Every Child a Reader! Children's Book Week Free Resources for Educators and Parents

It's #ChildrensBookWeek! From November 3-9, we join families, schools, libraries, and bookstores across the country in celebrating the longest-running national literacy initiative and the pure joy of reading together.

What is Children's Book Week?

Children’s Book Week was first established in 1919, and for over a century, it has inspired generations to discover the magic of books and the incredible worlds they contain. Each year, this nationwide event highlights the power of stories to spark imaginations, build connections, and lay the foundation for a lifelong love of reading.

Here at MamaBear Books, our world truly revolves around the art and wonder of children’s literature. We believe a picture book is much more than words on a page and vibrant illustrations—it's a "deceptively complex object," as described in our recent blog post, "Celebrating the Art of the Picture Book." These cherished books offer shared moments that build bonds between reader and child, fuel creativity, and nurture the confidence every young person needs to believe they really can change the world.

Our commitment as a family-owned publisher extends beyond simply creating new stories. We work closely with authors and illustrators to craft books that encourage children to dream big, discover new ideas, and celebrate who they are. We hope the stories we publish become beloved family heirlooms—books that are read aloud, returned to, and handed down through generations.

Looking for ways to celebrate this special week?

Cuddle up together and read your favorite picture books, host a storytime party with friends, visit your local library for a book-themed event, or create your very own picture book at home.
